Keywords:
- Chemical composition: A combination of fatty acids, fatty acid soaps, and fatty acid esters
- Characteristics: During the mixing process, it effectively prevents the aggregation of silica, which could lead to uneven dispersion, thereby significantly enhancing the dispersibility of silica. It exhibits excellent wetting and dispersing properties for fillers like silica, promoting better processability during operations such as calendering and extrusion. Importantly, it has no adverse effects on the vulcanization rate or physical properties of the rubber compound, making it suitable for use in both natural and synthetic rubbers.

Silica is a great filler—powerful reinforcement, low rolling resistance—but it is also a nightmare to process. It is hydrophilic, agglomerates easily, and during mixing it greedily absorbs accelerators, antioxidants and zinc oxide, messing up your cure and leaving you with a sticky, high-viscosity mess. That‘s where silane coupling agents like SI‑69 come in—they build the chemical bridges between silica and rubber. But even a good bridge needs solid foundations. LF‑32 works alongside the silane, filling the gaps that chemistry alone leaves open.
LF‑32 is a blend of fatty acids, fatty acid soaps and fatty acid esters, formulated specifically for high‑silica compounds. During mixing, its polar ends quickly adsorb onto the silica surface, wrapping each particle in a hydrophobic layer. This physical barrier stops the filler from re‑agglomerating, dramatically lowers Mooney viscosity, speeds up powder incorporation, and shortens your mixing cycle—not in theory, but in every single batch you run.
Unlike silane coupling agents, LF‑32 stays physically attached and does not participate in the vulcanisation reaction. The result: it has no negative effect on cure speed, crosslink density, or final mechanical properties. Hardness, modulus and tensile strength stay exactly where they should be. LF‑32 simply makes the process smoother—cleaner extrusions, lower die swell, fewer rejects.
Typical dosage is 2–5 phr. For silica‑loaded compounds like treads, conveyor belts and rollers, LF‑32 is a pragmatic addition to your formulation. The granule form is dust‑free, easy to weigh, and ready for automated feeding lines. If silica dispersion has been a headache, or if you want to push production efficiency without compromising performance, LF‑32 is worth a trial.
